I have a measure where I’d like to create a 1st ending:
When I press Shift-R, I get the Repeat Ending popover. Intuitively, I type “1” (without quotes) for the 1srt ending. Result:
What am I doing wrong? And where might I find more specific directions for this in the manual?
Exactly what the instructions suggest that you enter: end or ending.

I have passed on this feedback about the distinction between text marked up as being “text that you should write into the popover” vs plain text to my colleagues, for consideration.
