Repeat to fill selection

Protools has a function called Paste Special: Repeat to fill selection. This is where it takes and audio clip and pastes just enough of it to fill the space you specify with the range tool. Does cubase have an equivalent to this?

Yes, specified by locators. Fill Loop.

thanks. A good feature request then would be a way to use the range selection tool and do this.

In Cubase with “Cycle Follows Range Selection” enabled you can

range tool

  • select range
    select tool
  • select object
  • Fill Loop

whereas I guess, In pro tools you would

  • select an object or range
  • copy
  • select range
  • paste special

It looks like 6 of one half dozen of the other. Maybe you can get used to the Cubase way of doing it.

Hey Steve.

I’m about to switch over from PT to Cubase, but this Function/Shortcut is essential for editing Voice Overs our Audiobooks. The big big difference in the Cubase way is, that you have to copy the material you want to fill in every single time. In PT, this shortcut takes the material from the cache (In case of editing audiobooks, its room tone).
My first idea of making a room tone track underneath my edit track won’t work, because the “fill loop” selection has to be from the same track. I’ll try to find to find a workaround, maybe with a macro.
