Hello. For example, let’s say I have a 10-Bar piece. There is a repeat sign between bars 3 and 5. On bar 10, there is a Dal Segno al fine. On bar 2, there is a Segno. On bar 7, there is a Fine. When playing initially, I do not play the repeat sign; I play the repeat sign after the Dal Segno. Then, I finish the performance at the Fine. Is this possible? I used Google Translate, so please understand. Thank you.

Do you need this to play back properly? Or simply notate it?

I am assuming that your example is a shortened version of what you want to achieve. There are a couple of ways to notate it in the music but getting the correct playback may be more difficult.

I actually have the sheet music. I asked a question, for example. In the actual score, I entered the text “Repeat after Dal Segno” in the repeat sign. I asked if such a performance is actually possible. Thank you.

If I understand correctly, you want the playback sequence to be bar numbers 1-10, 2-5, 3-7. Here is a structure that gives this sequence:

After placing a first ending over bars 3 through 5, select that ending bracket in engrave mode and set the following properties:

  • No. times played to 5
  • Times played for segment to 1,3,4

Then select both ending brackets and set the Y offset property to a value large enough to send the brackets off the page. Finally, add the text “Repeat after Dal Segno” near the end repeat barline.

This is the question I wanted to ask. Logically, it shouldn’t work, but is it actually possible to play like this at Dorico?
