Replacing motherboard and PC processor

Should I deactivate Cubase on my old motherboard before installing a new one with a new processor? I’ll replace those parts, but keep the same Windows installation.

Willy

Hi Willynanita,
I think that your Steinberg license will not be the problem, you can activate multiple pc’s. Afterwards you always can deactivate a license. Windows will recognize a new pc (hardware), that can be the problem.
If you have the possibility I would make a clean windows install.

You could only run into trouble if it was an old soft eLicenser-based Cubase version < 12 and if it was already early 2025 and beyond by now.
In other words - no worries and good luck with your new system!

I would deactivate Cubase before doing this just to be safe. It takes a minute to activate it back again. All in all it’s a quick and easy process.

Nothing wrong with that, go ahead :+1:
You were just asking if you had to and if it was manditory.
May the bits and bytes be with you on your new system :fist:
