Replacing the Hub with the Project Assistant

I’m having problems with the Hub being unresponsive, from time to time. This, in turn, causes other problems:

I can’t say why, but I get the feeling that the “News and Tutorials” section has something to do with it.

Is there any way of replacing the Hub with Project Assistant dialog, on startup? If I deactivate “Use Hub”, I get nothing, and I to manually go to File/New Project. I’d like to have the Project Assistant automatically open on startup, in place of the Hub.

If this is not possible, please, consider it a feature request.

Open the Cubase Application package and remove the hub component from its folder. It’s one of the first things I do after updating. From then on the Project Assistant will be the first dialog when you open Cubase (as long as you haven’t turned the hub off in preferences)

Hi,

On Mac: right-click the Cubase 8.5 in the Application folder, and show the content. Then open Content folder > Components. Here you will find it.

I’ll try that, but I still wish that Steinberg would offer that a a prefecture setting, so that we won’t have to go mucking about the the Package!

I disabled the hub in Cubase 8.5.15 (as described above), removed “hubservice.dll” from the “Components” folder (on my Win 7 system), but the Project Assistant does not load automatically when I start Cubase. Do I need to do something else?

Preference to use hub must be set (as said in the original instruction)

Thanks, Grim. I misread the instructions.

BTW, do you work for Steinberg, or are you just a really nice/helpful guy?

Not working for Steinberg.
Helpful? Sometimes (I hope)…Nice guy?..well my mum thinks so

I didn’t know that. Works great here on Mac.
Many thanks! This is amazing. The hub is so needless. I don’t understand why Steinberg can’t inform me when an update is available like every other company. Just via a pop-up window in the software itself.
I don’t want to bother to look at all the stuff in this hub thing…

Especially since the information usually doesn’t don’t show up in the Hub until after about a month of the update’s release. When everybody knows about it anyway. I’ve often wondered why we should bother register the software. Isn’t being informed about updates the main reason?
