See screenshot below. staves 2 and 3 are using left-aligned lyrics, since they’re part of a melisma, but staff 1 is using center-aligned.
It would be incredibly helpful if lyric alignment could take into account other staves, so that all staves’ lyrics are aligned the same way.
Yeah, that’s not going to happen any time soon.
Dan, your example is all the more interesting because of the downstem voice in the top part. I just engraved a vocal work this afternoon and and ran up agains the same issue. Sometimes it looks passable, but most of the time it looks odd when only one or two syllables in a column are out from the others. I’d also appreciate if we could define the offset for left-aligned lyrics. I always find them a little too far over for my eye.
