On Wavelab there are two options to release the driver. One for Cubase specifically and a general one. Would be nice if Cubase had this too. Using the release when in background causes the audio to drop out when accessing a floating Control Room window as that seems to be a separate app when not using the always on top window option to keep it hidden until needed.
