REQUEST: ties and dots

Hey Dorico team,

Love the product. I have a very specific request. The other day I was entering a half note tied to a dotted quarter. I ran into the problem because I have come over from Finale and have my preferences set to enter dots, accidentals, and articulations after entry rather than before. When I have these settings the half note will gobble up my dotted quarter when trying to dot it, however when I have the default settings it works just fine!

My request: I love being able to enter accidentals and articulations after entry, but I’m very content doing dots before entry. Would you be able to separate those features in the preferences rather than have them lumped as one feature?

I am attaching two short screen recordings to show the difference I’m talking about. Very niche request, I don’t expect it to be dealt with but just wanted to bring it to your attention.

I second this request! It came up before in another topic. It would make sense to separate rhythm dots from accidentals and articulations when it comes to note input options. Especially since the two main flavors for note input are either pitch before or after duration. Duration should logically include rhythm dots, but in the current situation, if you like to input duration before pitch but enter accidentals afterwards, you’re forced to a strange duration-pitch-duration sequence when entering a dotted note.
