Reset "Always on top" plugin list

Hello!
I have disabled this option but plugins that I switched to “Always on top” are still always on top. And it seems like I have already made them not Always on top but they still are in a new project. Is there some way to reset this? Maybe delete some setting or something?

Hi,

As far as I know, this preference is taken in account when you open the plug-in window. So closing and reopening the plug-in window should solve the issue.

It’s not. The state for each plugin seem to be saved with the project (per plugin instance). I have plugins that I haven’t opened for a long time in the template that are still always on top when I open the window.

When a new plugin is created it will follow the global setting.

December 2024 and this is still an issue, I absolutely detest what’s happened with my project windows, I cannot get them back to behaving normally, another reason to add to the long list of reason to leave steinberg once and for all, this has been an issue for over a decade !!

I have the same problem with Cubase 14.0.5. I’d prefer plug-ins to stay Always On Top, but I hate how they disappear when Cubase loses focus. As a second best option, I disabled Always On Top in Preferences so that plug-ins would actually stay open when the focus changes (why this doesn’t work with AOT on is beyond me!), but this option now behaves completely randomly - some plug-ins open with AOT on, some with AOT off. I’m still in the trial period, having been considering switching from Logic to Cubase, but this may well be a complete deal-breaker for my workflow.
