Dorico does a good job setting out voices with close intervals between them (e.g. seconds, unisons).
But later the same voices may get positioned much further apart. Now vertical alignment remains distorted, (its awkward to play 
)
How can I trigger a ‘reset of voice alignment’ ?
When I enter this music in Dorico, everything lines up as expected. I would check the properties on those lower notes in Engrave mode and make sure that you haven’t changed the voice column index. If you’ve got some override there, just untick the option to remove it.

I have not consciously set any voice column index values myself, but some fragements were originally imported from Finale
