[RESOLVED] External Midi Start to Cubase

Hello,

I am using Cubase with an audio interface that has MIDI in and out, to which I have connected an external synthesizer. Currently, when I start playback in Cubase, it correctly triggers the arpeggiator on my synth, which works perfectly.

However, I would also like the reverse to be possible: when I press Play on my synthesizer, I want it to automatically start playback in Cubase. I have tried different settings in the MIDI synchronization options but have not yet found a solution.

Could you confirm if this feature is possible in Cubase, and if so, what specific settings I need to configure?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,

Cubase always has to be the master.

But, if your synthesizer sends a MIDI Message, when pressing the Play button, you can map this to Cubase’s Start (or Start/Stop) command via MIDI Remote.

It is likely possible but without knowing if your synthesizer sends a message when you press play, or what that message is, it’s hard to give any further advice.
If your synth sends a MMC command then you would only need to Machine Control Input settings in the Project Synchronization settings.
If your synth sends another type of MIDI message then, as Martin said above, you would have to set something up in MIDI Remote.

If you can figure out what it sends, or at least let us know what make and model your synthesizer is, it would help.

Alright thanks for your answer. I did not think about the Midi Remote.

As we can see in capture cubase receive midi datas.

Hi,

You can use MMC, but I would say it’s easier to map the button directly to the Cubase function.

I did not metion it but it’s a Behringer Poly D.
I’m not sur it’s possible to dot it.

Cubase detect midi messages from poly D but when i click on play on poly D then the sequencer is playing and send too much information to cubase and then it does strange things.

I wanted to have a look at the Poly D manual’s MIDI implementation but there seems to be none. Classical Behringer. Cheap, cheaper, behringer.

Well, the synth would need to send a midi message other than the midi clock start message (because Cubase won’t listen to that). Most synths can’t do this. Can your Poly D do it ? Contact the support of Cheapinger in order to find out.

Haha ok thank you.
I have my answers.
Have a nice day
