Rest in empty bars? how to

Hi,
How to insert or make a rest in the empty bars ?
I cant copy any material into the bars as long as there’s nothing

You should still be able to paste into a caret position.

To restore the rests, enter Note Entry, bring up the Bars popover (Shift B) and type rest.
