Restrictions on ASIO Source Code Via Audacity.

According to this:

…Steinberg has a licensing agreement for ASIO that restricts access to it’s source code. As such, users of Audacity would not be able to build it with ASIO compatibility and distribute it to other users, since doing so would reveal the ASIO Source code.

2 Simple questions:

  1. Is this true -and-

  2. Will there be any opening up of ASIO licensing in the future?
