I’m working on a Dorico 5 document that has been created by importing an XML file from a Finale document. In my Finale document, the rests at the end of bars in which there were notes at the beginning, were hidden. Now in my Dorico document, those rests still won’t show and I can’t find a way to see them. Please note that “Show bar rests in empty bars” IS selected for that instrument. (See attached screenshot: how can I make Dorico to show the rests at the end of the second bar?)
Try to select the last note before it happens (the g), or the first note after, and untick starts voice and/or ends voice in the properties (lower) panel.

Personally, I have everything except text items unticked under Prefences->MusicXML.
Adding more generally to @jesele’s excellent advice (I particularly like suggestion about xml import options).
You can do a select all, filter select notes and then reset any starts/ends voice properties to recover hidden rests. This avoids having to search for particular notes that have those properties.
