Retrospective Record - Stacking Recordings on Top of One Another

Hello all, I seem to be having a very odd problem with retrospective record. I’ve seen it happen since in a few iterations of Cubase and have just been playing with 15 and found it there.

Sometimes (and I don’t know what causes it, so I can’t reproduce it), after playing for a bit I hit the key command (or icon) for retrospective record, the recording that shows up is a stack of multiple recordings on top of one another, its as if the application went into a loop and recorded one buffer over another. This doesn’t happen all the time, or even that often, but when it does its really frustrating as I’m am then stuck with almost useless recordings. I guess, I would love to know what causes this so I can avoid it in the future.

Well, there are these two modes

And there different possible key commands

I assume if use the general key command (in my example Shift + Num*) a cycle recording is inserted if it is available. Otherwise it will be inserted as linear.

thanks for that. I’m staring at the icon now and for some reason I’m not seeing the dropdown to choose between modes…just the main icon
