Reverse Filter: Hiding Staves

I know you can hide empty staves, but sometimes I would just like to hide specific staves. Example: I have a piano part where I work out parts but I’d like to hide it at times.

Instead of using the filter to select everything else, can I just hide certain staves? Thanks.

Create a system or frame break, select it, press enter and set manual staff visibility.

For temporary changes you can use the instrument filter in galley view.

Excellent! Thank you!

In addition to @jesele’s suggestions, I wanted to point out that there are other ways of using the instrument filter in galley view. For example, in your case, you can click to select a measure in the top staff, then Shift+click to select a measure in the bottom staff. Then you can Ctrl/Cmd+click in the two piano bars to deselect them. Finally, click the + in the instrument filter to create a new filter.

Also note that once you’ve done this once in your project, to set up a filter that excludes the piano, that filter is available to select from the dropdown: Click the funnel to activate the filter, then just select your desired filter from the dropdown. If your piano filter is the only one in your project, or if it’s the last one you used, it will be applied automatically; if you have multiple filters, you can use the Manage Instrument Filters dialog to give them short and clear names, or reorder them, so that selecting from the dropdown is easier.
