Rhythm dot not scaling

This is the last mention I have found of this issue, from almost 10 years ago.

If you look at this picture, with both high notes selected and active properties shown, you see how they should behave the same and yet …

The rhythm dot of the first note is not scaling…

From the above post I understood why and that there is a complexity behind it but is there a way to solve it? Or can I only add a dot as a text object or PT and move it into place?

Ciao @MicheleGalvagno,

couldn’t you just divide the hidden note into quarter and eight, so no other dots exist at that rhythmic position, and the first cue sized note’s dot will have the right size? (assuming that probably the playback is not taken into consideration):

Result:

Dorico file example:
downsized dots.dorico (1.3 MB)

YES!

This works! So, is the reason for this behaviour that more than one dotted rhythmic element exists at the same rhythmic position?

Yes, I think this is what Daniel intended with “dot groups”: dots on notes in different pitches (voices?) at the same rhythmic position:

So in your case, with multiple dots, the bigger dot wins the “size-fight” And if you only have one dot at that rhythmic position there is no fight.

@MicheleGalvagno
Adding this to confirm the mentioned behaviour/explication, and (after some experimentation) to offer a workaround in case you need a big and a small dot at the same rhythmic position.

How to have big and small dots at the same rhythmic position (workaround):

Workflow and Result:

Details for the last step:

Dorico file example:
Different sized dots in the same group (workaround).dorico (1.4 MB)

(Suppress the playback for the added little note)

You know that this is nerdy beyond reason, right?!
