I have a client who wants the rhythm dot on the note highlighted to fall slightly above the note, rather than just below it:
I assume it’s this way because it’s in the second voice. Is there a way to override it?
The dot position actually depends on the stem direction.
Here is a workaround:
- Select the F and press F:
- Hide the stem in Engrave Mode:
- Enter the same F (half note undotted) in a new downstem voice:
- Tweak the voice column index so the two F’s overlap (maybe they will overlap automatically depending on your notation options):
- Remove the rest:

No easy way, not currently. There are situations where adjusting the dot would be useful, but I don’t think that this is one of them.

Yes it’s not something I would pursue, but you know what it’s like when you’re working for someone else
