RMS in mixconsole

Hi,

Is it possible to have RMS level for each track in the mixconsole ?

If not, what’s your alternative choice ?

Cheers,

Charles.

What you mean with RMS level? Channel metering?
It uses RMS values all the time, but you can’t change the parameters.

What is the use case?

For now the meters only show peak levels. RMS is only available on the output monitoring in the right zone (Cubase Pro).
The alternative could be to load SuperVision on the channel in a post fader slot.

Maybe you mix up RMS with VU metering?

RMS values are always used. The integration times are fixed, and the timing is very fast so it shows peaks very well. But you need to average the measurement anyway.
You can’t show 44 100 values per second, the display has a refresh rate much shorter than 44.1kHz.

RMS metering is usually done over a time of 200ms or 300ms. This is not the same as peak level metering. Of course, Cubase is a digital system, so also the metering has to work with discrete data and it has to select, which if the samples will actually get shown, or possibly Cubase is using a “mini-RMS” (1ms or so) in order to show peak levels.
