In Cubase, level metering in individual mixer channels is limited to peak metering. While it is certainly important to keep an eye on the signal peaks, a kind of RMS or VU metering is just as important. I thinks it is somewhat unprofessional that we have to use a dedicated plugin for this.
The metering options is something I really like in Pro Tools. There’s a couple of options to choose from. I think the default metering is called “Digital VU” and shows VU and peak values at the same time, which is really helpful.
I think it would be appropriate for a sophisticated DAW like Cubase to include more options in term of level metering.
