Not sure where you’re getting your information from but this is incorrect. Code bases have been basically the same for years.
“newer development branch” not other codebase.
What timo is saying: your shiny new c15 pro features won’t work in N14. this means you cannot use omnivocal when you surrender your license.
If you are referring to cross grading to Nuendo from Cubase, I was not required to surrender my Cubase license when I cross graded to Nuendo. I have a license for both Cubase and Nuendo in Steinberg License Manager and am able to use both programs with no restrictions. I believe that Steinberg stated that keeping your old Cubase license when cross grading to Nuendo was now the new norm when I was offed the cross grade a few months back. Check with Steinberg customer service to be sure that is the case before making the cross grade purchase.
Yes, we changed that like 3 or 4 years ago. One can run both.
Sorry totally missed that!
No, that’s not unfair, because you’ve been able to work with Nuendo 14 since you purchased your update from 13 to 14. Anyone who can now update from 13 to 15 with a 30% discount has been working with 13 while you’ve already been working with 14. That’s a clear difference that can be priced, and in this case, that’s the 30% discount.
I paid $99 or something (maybe it was 199) to upgrade from Nuendo 13 to 14.
It’ll likely be $99 (or 199) to move from N14 to N15.
As it will be for you.
Why do you want to pay the current promo price?….$314. Instead of 199 or whatever.
What am I missing with your math? ![]()
It may be a temporary glitc, a brief activation delay on Steinberg’s end. The Nuendo license is a full license, not an upgrade. Wait for a while and it should resolve on its own.
If it doesn’t resolve in next 48 hours Contact Steinberg support directly via their online portal (steinberg.net/support) with your license key and system specs. Provide screenshots of any error messages to expedite resolution; they typically respond within 1-2 business days
I think you have misunderstood the situation.
The fact that someone has to explain this to crybabies is beyond me.
To my understanding, OP was issued a new Nuendo license, which is why I suspect this is a glitch. That said, I cannot state that with complete certainty.
I do not believe the upgrade restrictions applies to a Cubase to Nuendo crossgrade. It does, however, apply to a standard version upgrade such as Cubase 14 to Cubase 15. In that case, Cubase 14 cannot subsequently be used to obtain another discounted upgrade to Cubase 15. Allowing that would create a pricing loophole in which users could access newer Steinberg products at a reduced cost without first purchasing an additional full license and then resell it.
The OP has a refund window, but a quick dash to support should resolve this.
The same sale happened last year and will probably happen next year, so it’s not that complicated.
If you’re on Nuendo 13, you can get the upgrade to 15 for 139,30 € by buying now an upgrade to 14 and you’ll get 15 once it’s released.
If you’re on Nuendo 14 now, you can wait until Nuendo 15 is released an buy the upgrade for 139,30 €. (At least that’s what happened last year).
If you’re on 14 and want extra savings, don’t upgrade now. Wait until next year and buy an upgrade to 15 during the grace period. Then you’ll get 16 for 139,30 €. (There’s no guarantee the sale will happen again under these conditions, but it’s likely.)
I’m on 14 now and will buy the upgrade as soon as 15 is released (provided the discount is still available). That way, I won’t have to wait and contribute to the future of Nuendo.
haha….I just saw all the sb dropdown box choices and indeed…..people are complaining over a measley $20! Yeow ![]()
Personally, I may not even move from N14 to 15. I didn’t update cb14 to 15 either as nothing in cb15 really appeals to me. Might be the same thing for n15. No way to decide until 15 releases and I can see what’s there.
This thread has become somewhat bizarre, but I have to give respect to the nice folks who are explaining the promo situation.
Now I would have MUCH preferred that this thread go in the direction of @TimoWildenhain dropping hints about new features in Nuendo 15 to fuel our excitement. It’s not too late, Timo, the thread hasn’t gone completely off the rails… so how about it? Care to give us a little preview of something?!?

Indeed, I look forward to the new features!
I just finished a book on immersive music production, focusing mainly on Nuendo. Let’s hope it’s not too outdated before it is published… Although I really hope there will be more immersive features! Like higher order Ambisonics, possibility to change channel width of a track, midi remote for Multipanner and renderer, integration of other formats…
That’s the point. I will also upgrade to Nuendo 15 as soon as it is released, no matter if there is a discount or not. Apart from having access to new features that surely will improve my workflow, this is my way of supporting Steinberg to continue making so good products.
Hello, I have a Nuendo 11 license on a USB key. Is it possible to upgrade to Nuendo 14 version?
Yes and even if it is bugged to hell, I will still purchase and wait, while using the current stable version, i.e., V14.
I have a good feeling about Nuendo 15. Cubase 15 has already been excellent, loving it. that bodes well for N15. IMO Steinberg is on a good roll, especially since C14/N14 TBH, and I don’t see them messing up Nuendo 15.
We’ll see soon, of course, and I could be wrong… but I think if they just keep evolving Nuendo 14 on top of its existing strengths, then N15 should be very good.
Now if they decided to finally spend time on adding click-and-drag ripple editing to Nuendo 15, after years and years of asking for it, I may temporarily lose my mind in shock and joy. Seriously.
Once I regain the ability to speak again, you’ll probably see me proclaim N15 as the greatest DAW ever made, the pinnacle of DAW excellence, better than sliced bread, cooler than the bee’s knees, my DREAM DAW, and so forth… I’ll be writing long hyperbolic posts praising Steinberg as the greatest developer ever, and I’ll conveniently ignore whatever bugs they have for at least one full month. And I can guarantee I’ll jump up and down each time I load it up for the first week or two. No kidding. You’ll get sick and tired of me very quickly.

And BTW, while I’m at it, if Steinberg announced Linux support too, I might go into a coma for a few days. There could be a medical emergency….

Having said all that, I seriously doubt Steinberg has implemented click-and-drag ripple editing in Nuendo 15. And the possibility of Linux support this decade is about 1 in 1,000,000. So this release will more likely just be a good to very good release. I’ll take that too!
Let’s go Steinberg!
But one of these days…. maybe, just maybe, my “dreams” will come true. Perhaps before the AI apocalypse…. ![]()
