I request a Rolodex that can keep track of musical material that I would like to search.
To create an entry in the Rolodex, we might highlight the theme, and give it a name, write in some meta data, and maybe generate a short wav file.
Then later, the user can search for “themes that start with a perfect 4th.” And the Rolodex is bringing back all the themes that start with a perfect 4th. The user could listen to the results and see the themes.
I don’t know how possible that is, but it would be neat. I’m sure my request needs some explaining. Feel free to ask for any clarification with regards to this request. I have a habit of leaving words and ideas completely out of my communications.
Later, Peace
You can do this with MS Excel, Open Office, etc. Create a spreadsheet with columns for Title, Key, Tempo, Feel, etc. Then you can arrange and search to your hearts content
Yeah, I’ve done stuff like that in the past. Actually, Windows allows for a lot the metadata to be put in the mp3. Composer, comments, tempo, date, image etc. I do use that feature in Win11 OS. It’s better than nothing, but it is very time consuming. Something more geared towards writing and cataloging music might speed up the process of creating, reading, updating and deleting an index.
But yeah, a spreadsheet would be better than nothing.
Thanks Cookie!
It would be great to keep it all within Dorico though. Personally I’m not disciplined enough to keep a spreadsheet up to date. probably a ‘me’ problem though.
