Routing external effects

Hi there,

I try understand why I can’t ear any sound when I use an external effect, weather it’s routed as a plugin or an FX bus.

I recently switched from PC to Mac and I use a MOTU 828 as audio interface. Nothing has changed in the MOTU routing, neither the cables. It was working perfectly fine on PC.

Now when I look at the meters, I see the signal getting out of Cubase into the MOTU, passing through the gears, coming out from the gears into the Motu and getting out the Motu into… nowhere! No signal back in Cubase!

The external effects routing in the Cubase studio set up is the same as it was on my PC

I wonder what’s wrong with my Mac Studio or with Cubase running on a Mac…

Does anyone has tips?

Can you get any direct input to Cubase and record it?

If that’s a no, check the mic privacy settings of your Mac.

Thanks (I didn’t checked that!) but it doesn’t work…

However, the mic is authorized for Cubase.

I don’t understand what’s going on. When I simply plug the Motu usb cable off the Mac and plug it on my PC, everything works fine!

So you tested and can record into Cubase a direct signal? Still don’t know for sure if this is external FX or is just no input.

Problem solved! The loopback function in the Motu was settled on the wrong inputs.

I don’t know why it worked on PC and not on Mac…

Thanks for your support!
