Dear friends, after adding new instruments (pitched and unpitched percussion), I no longer hear my MIDI keyboard when I insert notes. However, the keyboard works in play mode as soon as I activate an instrument. I’ve used the playback template and clicked “Auto > Apply and Close” to assign the channels, but unfortunately, no succsess. I need more than 16 channels. I’ve also tried using Port 2, but that didn’t work either. What can I do?
This could have to do with a newly introduced bug where MIDI through is routed to a different instrument (fixed in next release). If your inputting notes out of range of the random instrument Dorico chose for MIDI through, you won’t hear anything.
To test this theory, enter note input, when nothing is heard, hit esc, then enter and try again. Do you hear anything then?
That should be enough.
If you applied the Auto template, Dorico will create the proper number of Halion instances to support far greater than 16 channels. There’s no need to invoke ports.
