I am using RTP Midi via Ethernet for one X-Touch Extender. I use USB for the X-Touch along side another extender. So, Three units, two USB’d and one ethernet.
Normally, the rtpMidi session showed up in the Midi Port Set Up of Cubase 13 as “Main Studio” which is my PC’s local name. I have run it like that for years.
Suddenly, the RTP session doesn’t show up at all, and Cubase offers MIDI IN 2 (X-Touch.) …not X-Touch Ext. or “Main Studio.”
I’ve read a lot…Windows update fixes, spoke to an agent at Steinberg, and still no Session listed in Cubase 15. I also tried reverting to my Cubase 13 version to no avail.
Basically, the RTP session sees both my PC and the X-Touch extender but it just won’t show up for work! It’s as if Cubase can’t see rtpMIDI.
Thank you for your reply. I have seen this post. Chatted with a Cubase agent, asked Sweetwater tech who had never heard of this issue, or rtpMIDI, for that matter, and so on and so on.
I imagine you are talking about the new updated Windows Midi service right?
I vaguely remember reading about this but never actually figured out how to restart the ‘midi service’. I have been a little frantic, looking for a solution. I find this all a bit distracting. One’s head starts to spin after a while.
Is there a comprehensive text/video somewhere you could recommend?
Okay update. I just re-read the WinRT fix and see the download with instructions. This kind of work is way above my head and I’d rather just live without my extra X-Touch Ext for a couple of months that cock up the code work on my system.
I don’t know why a USB connection for unlimited numbers of extenders has not yet been made apparent in Cubase…now #15….or has it? Anyone remember Cubase SX? Or how about the Yamaha QX5? Yeah, I’ve been doing this a long time.
