I am a brand new user in Dorico, coming from 20 some years of Finale. I would love to see some measurement tools for text placement. As a publisher we have numerous detailed specs on the precise placement of different text elements, i.e., title elements, credits, staff labels, etc. that need to stay consistent across various publications. I need to be able to have precise distances and positioning relative to the margins, other text, music staves, etc. It’s nice to be able to apply the paragraph styles in Dorico and I realize I can make spacial adjustments in the properties windows, but alignment guides and rulers would help immensely and would provide instant visual verification. We also need to be able to measure from the baseline of text. Everything I’m seeing measures from the edge of a frame, which therefore includes text descenders. This makes it very difficult to get the measurement I’m looking for. I’ve seen this topic touched on in various posts over the past years, so I apologize if I am duplicating. But with the large influx of former Finale users, I would assume I am not the only one missing this feature. Is it something you’d consider adding in a future update?

Would the tool mentioned in this thread help you? (The referenced edition is for Mac; I did not confirm if there is a Windows version or not.)
Thanks, Eric. I’ll check into that. We do use Macs here.
Anne, check out xScope for Mac. It’s been a huge help to me.
