Running Cubase 15 on older Macs

A recently purchased Cubase 15, already having Cubase 12 on my MacBook Air (running Monterey), Mac Mini (running Ventura) and old Windows 10 laptop.

I use a Zoom R16 as a controller, through Mackie. All working fine.

I recently got a Windows 11, and run Cubase 15 with the Zoom and Cubase hung, MIDI wouldn’t work and the controller failed to acknowledge any commands.

I then read other people’s woes with Zoom Rxx and Windows.

I then tried the Zoom R16 with Cubase 15 on both of the Mac’s and it all works like it should.

I rarely have projects over 12 audio tracks, so it’s all processing well. The Zoom buffer had to go up to 512. Everything is holding together really well. I don’t use the more complicated bits of Cubase, so can’t verify if these are ok in these legacy versions on my Mac’s. I can verify that Windows 11 and Cubase 15 are fine. It’s just adding the controller into the equation.

I will send a message to the Zoom help desk soon.

Still very happy to be a Cubase customer, since first running Version 1 on a Windows 95 machine.

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

So your question is about using the Zoom R16 on Windows 11? The title of your post (“… on older Macs”) is a bit misleading.

Try the latest update of Cubase 15, released today, as it addresses some issues with remote controls. Also, ensure you have the latest driver (compatible with Windows 11) for your Zoom R16.
