I found the learning curve pretty steep, and even after a couple of years there are still parts of Resolve’s timeline editing that feel awkward to me. In some ways it’s definitely clunkier than Vegas. But Resolve has a lot more depth under the hood, far more than I’ll ever need or fully understand.
The main reason I switched was the constant white‑screen crashes I kept getting in Vegas. Resolve’s free version has been rock‑solid for me, so the stability alone made the move worthwhile.

Boris Vegas seems much more stable than VEGAS 23. That last one, the lag using the gui was ghastly, on my pc, anyway. The program was unusable.
Resolve is a much more powerful editor - I just don’t have the inclination to learn it. It’s not even particularly expensive, around £270. I’m just a lazy bugger, at heart.
Just FYI … BorisFX sale is now offering 25% off for anyone wanting to upgrade to Vegas Pro 2026, and the “Plus” perpetual license is particularly tempting, because for just a little bit more you get Mocha Vegas, Particle Illusion, some VSTs and an audio app.
I may be tempted, if only to get away from MAGIX for good.
With Ultimate you get Continuum as well - I know this because I’m using it. £100 cheaper than Continuum on it’s own, for some reason.
Well, I bought into Vegas 2026. Let’s see where this train goes from here.
In other news - Adobe got the ax. I’m not popping $75 a month to ride that rollercoaster anymore. Good news for those that are stuck on it though - all you need to do is threaten to leave and they’ll give you three months for free… Reminds me of the old days when mom used to switch TV satellite providers every other year just to keep the costs down…
