Salzedo Direction Arrow on Stem

For the thunder effect Salzedo marks a V sharp arrow on the stem of the note to show the direction the player will execute the effect. Is there a way to add this in dorico currently?

There’s currently no built-in way to design these kinds of stem decorations, though it’s planned. For the time being you could use a text item with collision avoidance disabled.

How could we do it now in Dorico 3.5.10? I find no good solution with new arrow features.

Currently, “Vertical Lines” option provides “Side” with “Left” and “Right”.
Could “Side” provide “Left”, “Center” and “Right”? Then we can have better “thunder effect” arrow.

We also should use two voices to hide the stem between the top note and the bottom note. It would be productive if we could skip this step as well.

The best way might be providing “Middle cap” because text ^ cut the vertical line. I could not find an appropriate upper arrow.

What I lastly did is changing “Top offset” and Bottom offset".
They are not propagated. Oh… I should do it each time for three times:

  • Full score
  • Condensed score
  • Part.

Did I do properly? Could anyone suggest a better way?

Anyway, I am attaching what I did:

I don’t think there’s a more direct way to achieve this at present than the kind of thing you have employed.
