Setting up my Cubase Pro 14. When I import 48Khz the pitch is down a whole step from the 44khz audio previously imported. I know I had my Cubase 12 setup so this doesn’t happen. What change to I make so Cubase keeps the pitch the same regardless of the sample rate? Thank you.
Hi,
first of all determine the sample rate of your project (Project/Project Setup):
If you set it up to 44khz than you won’t need to change the sample rate if you import 44kHz audio files.
If you set it up to 48kHz you must change the sample rate if you want to import 44kHz samples without messing up the pitch. There’s a dialog popping up during the import process asking you if you want to change the sample rate in accordance with your project.
In the way I’ve had cubase 12 setup in the past, it hasn’t mattered what the sample rates are. I generally have sound effects from various sources, some are 48K, some are 44K. I drag them in and Cubase didnt seem to care. The pitch did not change for any of the sounds I imported. This is how I’d like to have it set up in 14 as well.
In that case:
- Open File/Preferences/Editing/Audio/On Import Audio Files
- Check the following boxes in the menu
- “Use Settings”
- “Convert and Copy to Project if needed”
Now, all imported audio files will automatically be converted in accordance with your project sample rate and bit depth.
That’s it
