Sampler track problems

I am following a video that guided me successfully in C13 to replace some drums. Now in C15, things don’t seem to work the same. Initially I could not choose sampler control as he did, but after creating a sampler track I got that. And then I chose a tom for the one I want to replace. I’d already done the hitpoints and those to midi. He then solos and the sampler track loops back and forth. With me nothing happens. I thought maybe I needed to move the beginning of that track to the beginning, instead of aligned to where I intend to replace, but neither made the sample play, so I am stuck again, as it seems the same steps didn’t apply.

In the video, I got to about 5’52" where I don’t get that result.

So you can’t hear your tom play? In the video he is using a MIDI which he drags onto the Sampler for it to play. In your picture you have the Pattern Event mode selected and drawn in the arranger. Is it an empty pattern, or did you add something? (double click the pattern)

Is that what you mean?

I couldn’t see the lower sample looping as he showed, but by dragging the midi to the sampler track, I got it playing there and then rendered to audio, so I still succeeded, since posting.
