I can’t count the number of times I have changed certain engraving/layout/notation options, clicked APPLY then SAVE AS DEFAULT, only to have to start over in a new project a week or two later. I think it sticks sometimes (it sticks when I try it now so I can’t “prove” it) but suspect that when Dorico crashes I lose all my saved defaults because I don’t see why else it would reset. Dorico crashes on me about 1-2 times a week, often when saving and quitting.
Has this happened to anyone else?
The only issue I’ve had is that I forget that when I do File->New from project template (or from the hub->Create new) the settings in those templates override the save as defaults. You could use the library manager to import the saved settings into a template and then re-save the template. Then the next time you start from a template it will use the saved settings.

Hi @piping_hot_licks, the options that you save as default will be used if you start a new project from File > New
If you instead use a Project template (File>New from Project Template, or using the Templates in the Hub), I believe Dorico uses the Options that where saved with that Template (I hope I am not wrong).

Just tested, it’s definitely the templates, thanks.
So I need to go through those steps for each template. That’s annoying, but I guess I’ll learn how to use the library manager (never heard of that!).
Have fun"
