"Save As Template" dialog is unpredictable/buggy

The arrows on the “Save as Template” dialog are greyed out and don’t work. This has been the case for some time. Are there any plans to fix this problem?

They become very active once you have some folder (create with New Folder button) in the template folder and you click to enter such a folder.

Up is inactive because you are at the top folder for templates.
Back is inactive as you haven’t navigate forward yet.
Fwd is inactive as you haven’t navigate back yet.

Thank you for your reply! I’m aware you can create folders but what good is that if you can’t move templates into said folders? Ok, you can save a template into the new folders but I’ve tried saving to the new folder and then navigating back thru the folders and it’s not there. It is totally messed up on my computer. Nothing in a folder where I just saved a template. So I go to save the template again in the same folder that has no templates in it and it asks permission to overwrite it. So I “Show in Explorer” and the template is there but not in the dialog. It would take making a video to show how messed up that dialog is and I haven’t even tried to find more problems.

One problem that I can explain is that when I open a template to make some changes to it and then go to save it, about half the time the name of the template is nowhere in the current templates list. I have been reduced to putting the name of the template in Notepad so that when I go to save it I know exactly which template it is and the spelling.

Not to mention that there appears to be no attempt to organize the templates in the “Save as Template” dialog in the same fashion as the project categories in the hub.

Either there is something messed up about my installation or the “Save as Template” dialog is a can of worms that none of the developers or their leads care to address and maybe never will. Am I the only one with this problem? Any comments or help? (Thanks again)

After further testing the problem/bug with templates disappearing is as follows. If you have templates in a folder and you rename the folder in the SAT dialog the templates in the folder will disappear. They will be on the hard drive but they will be invisible in the Save as Template dialog. They will not reappear even when you exit the Cubase completely and restart. I think there was an instance where it did reappear but haven’t been able to repro.

Fwiw, I have had issues with C14 where a saved template doesn’t show up when it should.

I find it in Media Bay, then re-scan that folder, and re-scanning has always made it show up.

Thank you Greg for your suggestion. I tried it as best as I know how but I don’t have confidence that it will be a long term solution. I think the best route at this point is to just keep all the templates in the main folder in the SAT dialog and just keep the name of each template in the notepad of the template project so that if it disappears I know what the name is. Which is what I’m already doing.

Thanks for the help all!

I agree. Having to go to media bay and scanning because something does not show up like it should is a work-around until this issue gets fixed.

There are other posts here recently about user created templates not showing up.
