"Save as Template" Problem?

Version 14. Windows 11. After I change something in a template and do a “save as template” to overwrite the previous settings - next time in the same session if I try it again the template has disappeared from the “save as template” dialog. The template is still present in the Hub. Am I missing something?

The solution seems to be, until a fix is applied in updates, is to go to Media Bay (F5) right click on the folder “Project Templates” and hit “quick rescan disk”.

Yes, I noticed this as well. Surprised me first couple times, for sure. I usually restart Cubase between sessions so I just do that.
This is a bug, perhaps add the ‘issue’ label to the thread.

Reminds me of a question I’ve always had…why does “save as template” even exist on the dropdown menu?

I traditionally create a new cubendo project with the layout I want…click “save as”…and…save that as, say “TemplateA 2025”. As a normal day to day cpr/npr, complete…in the location folder I want.

I then know exactly where I’ve chosen to save it, can easily open, move, resave as any number of new named projects in other locations etc etc.

I tried “save as template” a few times. I just don’t get why it exists.

After “Saving as Template,” the “New from Template” automatically created a new project from the saved template. That’s the key difference - the process of creating a new project from the template will include your custom setup, but leaves you in an untitled, new document. That way you don’t have to copy files around or accidentally do work and click “save” and overwrite what used to be the template. Not like I’ve ever done that before, of course!! :stuck_out_tongue:

As Thor already mentioned with your method there is a risk of accidentally overwriting the project file.
Another advantage of using a template file: When you open a template from the hub you can define the location of the project folder.

Especially the second option is something you don’t get from your method.

I guess.

But I like my way better

I don’t see that folder in Media Bay, either up front or after poking around for it … ?

@alexis oops! Try this. F5 > Media Bay > User Content > Project Templates

Works perfectly, thank you.

Still can’t get the template to appear in the Hub under the “More” category, like the manual says it should (I believe), but I’ve marked down the path where Cubase stored the template.
