Save/open master section with audio file

Hey people. Scuse if this has already been answered, but is there any way to attach the master section effects preset created to its corresponding an audio file? E.g. when I open up the file, the FX I’m using with it will auto-load.

TIA.

Check this…

This is why I use the Audio Montage only, even if I’m just working on a single song/file.

I only use plugins in the Inspector and ignore the Master Section but even with the recent improvements, I don’t really care for how it works.

With the Audio Montage and using only Inspector plugins, everything is 100% automatically and easily recalled every time without room for human or computer error.

Yes, this is possible.

Hey, thanks all for the replies.

Should have added I’ve been using WL for quite a while and this was a “is this even possible?” Q (and thanks too Justin re: Montage, yeah that might well be the only option but it’s not quite what I was hoping for), it was simply if there was a way of associating a specific Master Section preset to an audio file to load when opened. I tend to audition work on initial tracks this way then build it up from there.

I have a vague memory of coming across others once debating if this could be a thing, poss during WL8/9? Sounds like it’s not an option though! Ta all, appreciated.

When you have this setup in the Audio Editor with associated plugins on master section, and then you choose create audio montage from wav, is there option to import plugins of that audio file as clip plugins like how it is done with markers?

The answer is yes, but you have to load the associated Master Section manually, it is not automatic by design.

I find this logical and may be because of two reasons.

  1. If user had to open 50 or more files inside the audio editor, it would not make sense to load all of them with their master section preset.
  2. In the new WL unlike before there is no option to avoid the load master section plugin dialogue by default, the user would have to keep clicking on that dialogue forever for multiple files.

Unless the above option is made common for all files loaded in the future or with some other workaround.

Not quite sure what your overall workflow is but, as pointed out by PG, it’s perfectly feasible to save the current Master section plugins and settings with the audio file. You just have to save / recall the settings manually by selecting ‘Save / Load Master Section Preset’. So you can indeed build up your plugin processing as per your wishes - you just have to remember to save any changes. The saved Master Section settings will be available the next time you load the audio file.

Justin’s montage solution is great if you insist upon automatic recall of the settings. Other advantages of the montage are that you can insert plugins at the clip, track or output stage and work on multiple clips at the same time.

If at any time in your workflow you switch to the montage there’s also a dedicated Montage Inspector button to import the current Master Section plugins to the montage clip, track or output stage.

Gotcha, nice one, that makes sense. I had hoped it could be one step less but that’s def a simpler solution to manual-only load.

As you say too re: Justin’s point (nice tip re: import BTW, ta).

Thanks again for the replies people, always appreciated.

You can also use Shortcuts, if that can save time.
