saved mono trak loads stereo Cubase Esenstial

When I save a song with parts on a mono channel with inserts it reloads with the parts ina stereo track with none of the inserts that it was saved with. The audio part is there as it was recorded and saved.

Any clues as to why this happens even after I have reset the channels and re recorded the parts on new added mono channels and it still loads and changes the track to stereo.

Never seen that. When something like that happens, first step is to trash Prefs (see sig).
