Saving mixer settings from one arrangement to another?

When I used Cubase ages ago you used to be able to save an entire mixer setup and load it in another track, but I can’t find this functionality in Cubase 14.

Right at the moment, I need this functionality, or something like it, because in the course of doing a tempo/timing thing (getting a “live” performance in time) I accidentally discovered better vocal group and master channel setups (inserts on both and sends on the lvox group) on a LATER (timed) save of a song, which I want to retrospectively apply to an EARLIER version, where I want to re-do the timing with the better sound and progress from there.

Snapshot doesn’t seem to work for this, as snapshots don’t seem to transfer between saves; using the gear icon top right and saving the two invididual channels I need (lead vocal group and master) is possible, but that doesn’t save the send settings for some godawaful stupid reason.

Template is irrelevant because the point is this is something I’ve discovered and want to retroactively apply to an earlier save, not a setup I’ve figured out and am going to use going forward.

I’m posting this in the hope that there’s something I’m missing - would it be workspaces or something like that?

Or do I just have to suck it up and accept that Cubase has lost functionality, and manually copy settings - on an effing computer?

Rather enraged by this, sorry.

This is what I use to copy and paste my mixer settings across multiple projects.

Thanks, but as I said, that “save/load selected channels” functionality saves inserts but it doesn’t save the sends and send levels, so it’s only semi-functional - unless I’m missing something in that menu that includes sends?

Seems hard to fix the send thing in any useful sense, since it would require that fx channels configuration is the same. Do you expect it to overwrite the current fx configuration?

Yes it does. Copy and paste the the FX channels and the sends on your audio / instrument channels are also saved and recalled as expected.
I haven’t done this in 15 yet because I’m now retired from engineering but it’s always worked in previous versions. I’ll check 15 later.

The two saves have the same audio channels, group channels and fx return channels but it’s still not saving the fx sends on the channels (I should have said it’s a vocal group chanel I need the sends on btw, maybe the save/load settings doesn’t work with groups properly?)

It’s weird how old versions of Cubase managed to do the trick. (In those days, one just ignored the info that didn’t match, having the stuff that did match was good enough becuase that’s what you were interested in.)

As I said to the other person, the two saves have the same audio channels, group channels and fx returns, and regardless, the “load settings” functionality brings up no send information from the saved vocal group channel (i.e. neither the send level nor the info re. the fx being sent to); it only recalls the inserts.

Again, yes it does. I’ve just tested it to be sure but I’ve been recording albums for decades and have been using the save / Load selected channels regularly. The send location and amounts (including in groups) are recalled perfectly as long as the new project has the same amount of track types as the original.
The only thing you have to do is your channel to group routing . This takes seconds.
I’ve included the screenshot of my test and you can see the sends as saved and copied.

Thanks for doing the testing, appreciate it. Well that’s baffling because despite all audio channels, groups and fx return channels (including the inserted fx) being the same on both saves, the sends are not loading for me.

What do you mean by “channel to group routing?” If by that you mean the group output routing from the mono vocal tracks to the vocal group (at the top of the mono vocal channels) , nothing about that is any different in the two saves.

(Just to be super-clear, all I did was, on a later save, change the inserted fx on the vocal group and master channels, then I saved the mixer channels (vocal group and master), loaded them into the earlier save, but the sends didn’t load. I’ll do the same steps again later just to be sure that I didn’t fudge something accidentally.)

[Later note: yep, did the same steps again:-

  1. Checked all channel and group settings were the same in both later and earlier save, same no. of channels and groups and fx channels, with the same fx inserts (and the same sent to group on output from the raw mono vocal channels to the lvox group channel) - only things different are the inserts in the lvox group and master channel that im saving and want to load into earlier save.
  2. saved group and master from later save using gear icon top right “save channel” functionality.
  3. loaded those into earlier save - still no sends. Inserts change fine, but no sends.

First I’m sorry it’s not working for you. I can’t understand why.
What I mean. The individual audio tracks kthat I have the output routed to a group. Example my kick, snare, hats etc would be routed to a stereo group named Drums.
I have to re-rout (change) these as the outputs are re-sent to the main stereo outs.
In the course of my work, I have always saved and loaded in blocks.. example First FX channels then Drums, Vocals, Guitars, bases, Keys..checking as I go. It’s very important that you have both the number and order of the channels the same in both projects. Also make sure you do the FX channels first for the sends to have somewhere to send to.
This is actually a great feature (save / load selected channels) that has saved me hours over the years.
One last thing. Make sure you do it from the mixer and not the project window.
Good luck

Yeah that’s what I thought you meant by group routing. All that’s fine. Thanks for making the effort to help me anyway, all the best!
