Scaler 3 VST3 - added to blocklist after upgrade to Scaler 3.2

So, I’m working in Cubase using Scaler 3, a VST3 plugin . . . and I noticed there is an update to Scaler 3.2 . . . I close Cubase and run the install successfully, then try to open Cubase 15, and it says no license available ? After I close the Scaler website, Cubase does open, but it immediately adds Scaler to the plugin blocklist . . . if I try to reactivate Scaler 3, it warns about possible system instability.

I’m thinking the new Scaler 3.2 programming has broken some serious Cubase rules, anybody else run into this here ?

Hi,

Please, get in touch with the plug-in vendor.

Yes, thanks Martin, I posted this on their forum as well . . . if others have had this issue, it may be worth launching a support ticket with Scaler . . . just trying to find out if this is specific to my system, or if it’s a new known issue with the latest plugin update.

Another scaler 3.2 user here with the same problem. But i reactivated it after cubase 15 blocked it, and so far it runs without problems.

Hi,

You are taking a risk, that it might crash in any time.

Yikes! To be honest Martin, i would prefer to use chordpads which i also enjoy very much. But it’s a bit wonky with the latest release. Drag’n drop from the circle of fifths sets the wrong chords. But im sure steinberg will fix this in an update.

Why do you say that @Martin.Jirsak I have never seen that happening? In my long cubase history I have seen maybe 10 blacklists and never had a crash after reactivating.

Hi,

Plug-ins, which don’t pass the internal Cubase plug-in tests, are blocklisted. It’s not a random list. So if the plug-in doesn’t pass the test, there is a risk of a crash (in any time).

And if you delete the blocklist, which forces a rescan of the plugin on the next cubase start and it then passes, is the plugin ok then? IMHO and experience it often passes then. Also in case if there is a problem like a faulty install a plugin will not reactivate and will stay on the blacklist, rightfully so.

I have never seen a warning here before that reactivating is at your own risk.

Cheers!

Hi,

You get the message anytime you try to reactivate the plug-in:

No problems here, upgraded to Scaler 3.2, was not blocklisted, working fine (Win 11 25H2).

Even more troubling with this issue is when I reinstalled Scaler 3.2, Cubase cannot find my license . . . yes, that’s correct, I cannot run Cubase 15 because of this erroneous plugin, and I’m not sure what the Steinberg license has to do with anything regarding installing a VST3 plugin !!

Hi,

Are you talking about Cubase license or the plug-in license? What does the message say?

After reinstalling Scaler 3.2, when I try to launch Cubase 15, a message appears that it can’t find a license, so that’s my Cubase 15 license.

Fortunately, after about 5 minutes I try to launch Cubase again, and it does start up.

Just thought it strange that it would have any affect on my Steinberg licensing.
