Scaling automation points up creates new points - why?

When scaling automation points vertically, it inserts a new point at the same original position of the last selected point.

For instance

  1. I select two points in one drag, from left to right.
  2. I click on the “Scale Vertically” handle at the top of the selection region.
  3. I drag the handle up or down. There is now a point at the same place at the last selected point.

What’s the purpose of that new point? I never want points to be inserted automatically, so why this?

Thank you
Bernard

This has been asked for and talked about a lot on this forum. I don’t think it will change. The weird thing is, using the same function in the Key Editor doesn’t add extra points and the functions are described exactly the same in the manual.
My best advice is to select the automation points and use the Info Line to change the values.

I can also move the points directly by clicking on them when the pointer is a hand with the finger up, but I find that approach clunky. Sometimes it takes some moving the cursor around the points a bit to get that pointer to show up. :frowning:
