So I set one part in a project to diplay as quintuplets. Fine. Then 2 measures later the same thing and the score closes and I get this message, score error. Says can’t use nested tuplets, though they were the same and then cubase closes. Have had this happen multiple times before.
Hi,
Try to reinstall your Cubase. Install it as administrator.
I am the administrator. What settings would change? Drum maps? Midi devices? routing?
Hi,
Sorry, I’m not a Windows user, I don’t know if the administrator user gives all the permissions, same as the Install as administrator.
My guess is, the reinstallation would fix some permissions issue, which might cause this.
On Windows Please do the following:
right-click on the the Cubase installer file, and select “Run as administrator”
-or-

Hi,
Regarding to this old thread, this might be caused by corrupted preferences.
Could you try in the Cubase Safe Start Mode [Disable preferences], please?
Or you can even try to rename/remove all Cubase versions preferences folders, to get the factory settings.
Cubase Preferences folders are:
Mac: ~/Library/Preferences/Cubase X
Win: %appData% \Steinberg\Cubase X_64
Where the X is the Cubase version (for example 13).
So after I finally figured out a way to get logical editor what I wanted regarding another post, I went to save my preset and it wouldn’t let me save to the Cubase location, said only administrator could do that and I could save to documents.
So then I went and opened as administrator and then I recreated my preset and was allowed to save. So then I worked quite awhile on the drum track I had finished playing yesterday and was editing today. I was tweaking the score to perfection and went to a 90% layout size to save a page, and that immediately ruined the drum score, as in other cases, documented, so I undid.
I worked some more in the drum editor and then a loop of a measure would not stop playing no matter what. I went to task manager and closed Cubase, and then went to reopen, and it says I have no license. 2 more attempts and same thing.
So I reboot, open Cubase as administrator and go back to where I left off with the drum part that accompanies the piano tracks. Only now, the 2 midi piano tracks have no sound, show activity on the tracks, nt getting to the mixer. They were fine before I had to leave because of the lockup. Typical day, overcoming so my obstacles to make any progress. Now I have to deal with this not infrequent issue.
After getting that back by closing Cubase and the mixer and coming back, I worked till I was satisfied with the whole score, at least for now and went to print to file. Cubase locked up as happened once before in this situation. Have to reboot, try again and be redone I hope.
