Scoring in Cubase

Hi!

When I input notes in Sibelius, Notion or Finale I have convinient view of the cursor with a ghost of a note or just a potential note. But in Cubase I have trouble to manage with note inputting. Sorry, I cannot post images. I will try to describe. Whey my cursor with a note hovers above a note staff I left click my mouse and the note appears higher then I wanted it to be. I mean that the note head of the cursor doesn’t point what note should be drawn.

Is there any way to correct it? It would be great to have something like ‘preview of a potential note’. May be kind of ‘note cursor calibration’ would be appropriate for acheiving reasonable results in notating

Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome,

In the Status Line of the Score editor, you can see the mouse cursor position in both Time and Pitch. So you can see exactly, which note are you going to insert. Then the very same note should be inserted.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

What Martin wrote is correct.

But I think this is better and more precisely what you are asking for:
Go to Preferences>Scores>Editing and check “Show Pitch When Inserting Notes”.

Edit: second option, without changing that preference: just hold the left mouse button and find your pitch before releasing it.
