I am writing for violin and piano. The headphone volume is set at a reasonable level and works properly for playback. But sometimes (not every time) when I play on the MIDI keyboard (Casio CTK-3200), I get a screaming loud violin sound that I fear will damage my ears. Any thoughts about how to correct this? I tried looking at the faders in Play mode, but I don’t see anything that controls MIDI input volume.
Is it only one note that comes out so loud, or several, or all notes from a certain time onwards?
See, MIDI is just a bunch of control commands which tell a (soft) synthesiser what to do. So there is no such thing as MIDI input volume.
What I suggest to check is following:
Go to Edit > Devcie Setup and click on the Device Control Panel button, a new little window opens. There is an option called Set Device Attenuation to 0 dB. Is that tick marked with you when the loud notes come through?
