Screen jumps at start of playback

An irritation when playing back music is that the window often jumps prior to the start of playback so that the playback head is near the right side of the window. Then, as it plays back, it has to jump again as the playback head moves off of the window. This happens even if the start of playback is near the left side of the window. The behavior is also not consistent. Sometimes the window stays in place.

When this jump happens, it makes it hard to follow the music. That’s not a good thing when you are playing something back at a spot where you are concerned about something and need to hear the sound and see the music together to get a sense of what is going on.

One example for me is when I make a lyric change. I need to watch the music, hear the sound, and sing along to get a sense of whether or not what I am doing works.

I guess I could turn scrolling off but then, if I need to listen over a stretch of measures longer than what fits on the screen, I’d be out of luck.

Any ideas of better ways to deal with this?

I often make a screen recordings to share work with colleagues who are not musically literate but need to check the word-setting of lyrics, for example. I wholeheartedly agree that it would be a helpful quality of life improvement if the music did not change position when commencing playback.
