Scroll wheel make zoom go brrrrrrr

This is an odd little one. I’m using an MX Ergo trackball. 95% of the time, Ctrl-scroll works fine to zoom in and out. But once in a while, Ctrl-scroll goes brrrrrrrrrrrrrr and I can’t stop it. That is, one little scroll bump makes it zoom out nearly as far as it will go… or as close as it will go.

I never experience this with other software, and most of the time not in Dorico either. Drivers are updated. There doesn’t seem to be a pattern. It’s not specific to certain files. Usually closing and re-opening fixes it. Other times, I just leave the file and come back later and it’s fixed.

Not sure if it’s solvable, just wondering if others have experienced it and have any suggestions.

Hi @dan_kreider, when I have several Dorico Projects open (more than 5 different projects) I experience that the zoom, using the magic mouse (command+swipe), goes a little crazy, zooming much more then expected (similar as you describe). If I close a couple of Projects, immediately the zoom behaves as expected.

(This has most probably not something to do with RAM, as my iMac has 128GB RAM.)

Hi Dan,

I also have an MX Ergo trackball (which I love). I haven’t experienced this - yet - since I don’t Command scroll (not control scroll) to zoom. I will experiment though…

later that same day…

What I have found is that I can cmd-scroll to zoom in and out (in page view) and as I do so I can find places where the music vanishes and I have just the Dorico background. One turn of the scroll wheel brings the music back though.

I get this in macOS as well sometimes.
It is like the Cmd key gets stuck for a brief moment while pinching out/in or scrolling.
