I have one flow, only one from many that I am currently working on, that advancing Scrub Playback with the left and right arrow keys is, well, wonky. I have copied and pasted the notation into multiple new files with new/unused flows with no changein the issue.
After the first section which has a repeat, a fugal section occurs. When activating scrub playback, it will skip some notes altogether and play others when advancing or reversing with the keyboard arrow keys. Advancing with the mouse cursor using my mouse or trackpad is not an issue. Only issue is with the keyboard arrow keys.
There was a post on Dorico Pro 5 about issues with scrub playback but I cannot find anything that really suggests what is happening here. There was mention about issues in a flow with repeats. That is the only commonality as best I can tell here. Thoughts???
Sample file attached with portions of the work deleted for copyright reasons. The scrub playback issue begins in bar 24 after the second ending of the repeat in the first section. Forward motion with the right arrow key is completely eliminated in scrub playback at measure 71. It’s almost as if the repeat causes some sort of note reading issue with scrub playback. I am using a MacStudio, M2Max, 32GB Ram, 512G SSD, Bluetooth external keyboard, and Bluetooth external trackpad (or Bluetooth external mouse).
Hi @kasky1, I tried your file. I confirm your initial issue.
Something is wrong with the Time Signatures, which seem to be the culprit:
I successfully have a accurate scroll playback, also using the mouse, after deleting the red TS signposts, and also the barlines correspondent with those Time Signatures signposts, if they remain after having been deleted; and also deleting the initial Time Signature, and reapplying it to the whole project (you need to recreate the repeats).
I don’t have your VST, but here the corrected example. See if this works for you now: Friesach HW Organ 1 - Flow Set-CORRECTED TIME SIGNATUREs.dorico (2.2 MB)
So, the repeat is missing in the files that you shared. I removed the repeat in the original and scrub playback worked fine. I put the repeat back in place and it behaves as initially described.
I looked at the signposts and saw those time signature signposts and deleted them. Even after that with the repeat in place, the initally described issue recurs. I have no issues with any other flows in that file behaving properly with scrub playback.
I do believe it has something to do with the repeats that I may not be inserting correction…
Oh, yes. I confirm that after reentering the repeats he issue returns.
Just splitting the flow seems to work, though.
Possibly someone can tell us what is going on (I keep experimenting though…). [Edit: see at the bottom of this post: It was already discussed and is already on the radar of the Team] (*)
I found that (without any other changes) deactivating Play Repeats in Playback options solves the jumping when using the arrows to move the Scrub Playback. (I have no idea why Playing the repeats seems to influence this particular usage of the Scroll Playback, but you can temporarily disable it, for checking the score with Scrub+arrows):
Thank you, @Christian_R for all of your time looking into this. I wonder if this has fallen off the radar with Daniel? Do you know the date of his last post or what thread it is in. I would like to share a little reminder. Thanks, again!
Don’t think it’s needed or appreciated to post a reminder though. If the issue is know and on the backlog, it’s on the backlog. Thread is 9 months old.
