after searching prefs for a long time and searching the manual,
i had to google “all cubase preference setting solo” to find this thread to find where this setting is
when you are tired after long session or when you are a beginner its very hard to find any setting in prefs…there are just too many
maybe with a little balloon pop-up what every setting does, as a cherry on top
Agree, it is ridiculous that there are still GUI widgets from Cubase SX days in the program (which is like more than twenty years ago) and still Steinberg found the time to redo the mixconsole and several other windows at least twice in that time period.
I too would like to see this.
In fact, the way I’d like to see it implemented would be similar to how JetBrains IDEs work. When using one of them, if I press shift twice in quick succession, it brings up a “Search Everywhere” dialog.
The search results can bring back names of files in your project that match your search query, as well as settings, etc…
Clicking on one of the results always does the sensible thing depending on which kind of result it was. If it was a setting, it will bring you to that page of the settings panel with the specific setting you were looking for highlighted. If it was a file you clicked on, then it will open up the editor for that file…
YES! And more than that, a search across all menu commands. The menus are so dense and convoluted that I always forget where are some of the commands, even if I use them frequently. I have resorted many times in just opening “Key Commands” and using it as a search…
Dorico already has something in that direction with the jump bar, i was always hoping that this feature would also be ported to Cubase…
I also would love an interactive command shell with programmatic access to all cubase functions. I would even accept Javascript, seeing that they already use that for the Midi remotes…
