I’d like the ability to select an empty bar in write mode when Layout Options > Players > Bar Rests and Multi-bar Rests > Show bar rests in empty bars is unchecked. I prefer hiding bar rests because of how it looks when printed.
Hidden bar rests makes any kind of Paste Special action difficult if I want it in a specific location in another empty staff (this also makes inserting cues fiddly). One option is Shift + N to start Note Input, then either
- click in the bar I want to Paste Special and undo
- or navigate with the arrow keys and Command to move the playhead to the desired staff/bar
Another option is to keep Show bar rests in empty bars checked in the Score until I’m done writing so I can easily select the bar by its whole rest, but I’d rather not have to remember to turn that setting off every time. What I’ve been currently doing is leaving it checked in the Score but unchecked in all the layouts.
I know you can use the system track to select a range of measures, but I’m talking about being able to manipulate a range of measures on specific staves.
