I regularly click one dynamic, then ctrl+click another one, then use select more to make all dynamics between my clicked ones selected. Works mostly as expected, but sometimes all dynamics on the stave gets selected.
I think this has to do with grouping, but I am not sure about exactly how.
It would be nice if the select all behaviour always was the same, not depending on grouping.
I am at it again, so here is a GIF. The only group here is the two hairpins <>, the pp is not in the group. First I do the ”select more” that does not work as I would expect, then I start over and do the filtering (works).
That is not what I am trying to do, the GIF probably clarifies.
It does show what you’re doing, and how Dorico responds, but not what your objective is. What do you want to do with them once selected? Group them further?
Duplicate to staff below (or alt+click-copy to somewhere). This is only an example though, other times the dynamics can be more complex making it worthwhile to copy in this way.
Just to conclude, I will just have to stop using the ”select more” functionality with dynamics and use filtering instead. I have been quite attentive now to understand the behaviour, but right now there were dynamics selected off screen that by no logic should have been selected.
This is not a big deal, but as select more works so well with other stuff, it would be nice to have it work here also. But I’ll survive.
