is there a way to tone down the highlight of the selected mixer track?, or change the highlight from going up into the racks? as you can see in the picture, I cant really tell what level my cue sends are because of the track highlight…

No, I’m not aware of a way to do that. Even though you have component view options in different windows (project view mixer component selections vs MixConsole) that give you lots of flexibility on what you want shown, they are ultimately all the same channel, so when selected it impacts all components in the channel. This is expected behavior for me, FWIW.
