It might be a stupid question but I simply want to select the next midi note in the key editor (or audio event in the project window) by using the left and right arrows. I don’t want to “kick” them to either side, but just select (as if you would do when using “TAB”). But “TAB” doesn’t do anything in the key editor and in the project window - it just jumps between sections (inspector, project window, etc.).
What is the key command to “select next midi note” or “select next audio event”? I do have Cubase in German, but I will be able to find it when I have the English counterpart.
Hi,
you can use the left/right arrows in the editor window. They will select events vertically as long as there are events above/underneath the currently selected event and then jump to the next available event on the horizontal scale.
I don’t have the default key commands anymore because I unassigned the arrow keys a long time ago. But I remember that the arrows used to move the MIDI notes around, not select them. Am I wrong? Or do the arrows have a double assignment, and is there a setting in the Key Editor that switches between the two behaviors?
The left/right arrows move events in the editor window if you hold down Ctrl (Cmd) - that’s right. If you hold down shift you can select multiple events. Just using left/right is solely about selecting the next event in the order described above.
If you hold down Alt (option) / Shift while using the left/right arrows you can change the event length. I almost forgot…
You can reassign the left/right arrows to their defaults under
Edit/Key Commands/Move/ Left & Right.
If you want to … I have reassigned at least 30% of the defaults, too.
